Art Exhibition - Some Year 1 Famous Artists
The Art and DT Department held an exhibition for the School to display work from Year 1 to Year 6.
The Year 1 who visited loved seeing the work and talking about the displays and well as finding out that they were famous with their own fabulous artwork! The children felt inspired.
Number bonds to 10 and 20
We have been learning how to make numbers to 10 and 20 using a pair of numbers. This has helped us with our counting and also with our strategies when using money, counting and adding.
Some classes had a cafe, whilst others had a fruit shop. The children enjoyed the practicality of buying two items and paying the right money in pennies.
Making old artifacts in our Homes Topic
Following on from our visit to the RAK Museum, we have been talking about old and new things such as cups, plates, doors, lights etc. We made our own old artifacts this week.
We played in our role play bedouin tent and pretended to be a bedouin family from old times. We made our own old pots. We made our own door from card and tissue paper to look like the big wooden doors that we saw at the museum and finally we made our own chinese porcelain plates from blue paper and a paper plate. We had fun and we talked alot about what we saw and made too.
Learning and Writing Information Texts
We looked at different books that give us information about things we want to know. We talked about the title, information sentences, why pictures are used and how they help us, captions and labels.
We then had to make our own information page in a book using cut up pieces of a copied book.
Some of us wrote our own information sentences and captions. Some of us talked about our own information sentences and captions.
