School Trip to RAK Museum
In Topic this week we have continued our theme about houses, by visiting the old house of Sheik Saqr Al Qassimi. The children loved experiencing how we used to live. They enjoyed drawing the old ceilings, lights, air conditioning (the wind tower!), pots and water carriers, windows and doors. We will be continuing this throughout the next few weeks as we start to look at old artifacts and talk about the differences in materials.

"My House is your House - Mi Casa Es Su Casa"
For the last two weeks we have been reading the book, My house is your house. The Children have enjoyed the repeating patterns and phrases and we have put actions to the phrases, to help remember the pattern. This week we added a new character to come to the door. We made masks so that we could answer the door to the new character and then we wrote our own phrase to say.
Role play helps the children to become confident in their speaking and then helps them to form the words when writing by saying the sounds out loud and breaking down words into bite sized chunks.
Numeracy - Learning the value of money
This week we have been learning the value of money, aligning it with tens and units so that we understand how many tens and how many units there are in each number. We have also been ordering numbers to help us see how a number can be bigger or smaller. This helps us in learning skills for life when shopping and handling money and also for learning our number facts.
