Our Year One Assembly

Every week the whole year one meet up in assembly. Usually we have a story that relates to good citizenship, we celebrate success with our wonderful walkers and stars of the week. We also have a chance to listen to what is happening around the school. As you know, in any great team, communication and celebrating success is vital.

Registration

Children are collected from the playground at 7.45 by the Class Teacher. Our registration points are 7.50 and 11.45. We do this so that we can count children into school for health & safety to ensure that they are safely in our care. It is a very important part of our day. We look at the day ahead and give out important notices. Please try to ensure your Child makes registration everyday. Lessons start at 8am.

Sorting Materials

This week we continued to sort objects and materials to help understand what things are made from.

Hansel and Gretel

This week our literacy has been all about Hansel and Gretel. We have been finding adjectives (describing words) to describe the gingerbread house and we have been retelling the story through pictures and role play.

2D & 3D Shapes

This week we have been reminding ourselves about the name of 2D and 3D shapes. We have used those shapes to make ice creams, sweets, and gingerbread houses, as well as bricks for the gingerbread house. We also made repeating patterns for our gingerbread house. We have also enjoyed playing 3D shape bingo and guess my shape, which helps us to use the vocabulary and remember the different shapes that we have used.
